A Poem by Diana Raab

Remnants

The day after you left
I sat on the ledge of my desires

and spun an intangible invisible web
suspended around my essence

encapsulating the warmth of your trusted touch,
the moisture of your recycled kiss

entangled in the firmness of your caress
whilst the rest of the world froze

in the mold of you
beside the phone that stopped ringing,

around the birds not chirping,
and the waves that finished undulating--

only moments after
the windows got stuck open

leaving the stale air of your absence
empty without your love.

He who returns never left
