A Poem by Gary Beck

Astral Gap

Using radio pictures
astronomers discovered
a huge hole in the universe
without stars or galaxies,
or mysterious dark matter,
so they decided
it was a giant void.
Holes in the universe
probably occur
when the force of gravity
from areas of space with bigger mass
attracts matter from less dense areas.
Scientists won praise
for discovering something
that turned out to be nothing.
