A Poem by Valeri Beers

Circus Love

I taste
sticky sweet
cotton candy
kisses

I smell
hay
popcorn
smoke
animals

I see
lions lined up
I hear
trainer shouting
whip cracking

I sneak
stares
at you,
and feel
the same
excitement
&
uncertainty
when
I see
the acrobats
fly so high

my heart has no net.
